Recruiter: Rachael rachael@snapcare.co.uk

About this client/child:
Demi, 3 in September, is a smiley, happy and engaging little girl. She enjoys being outside and interacting with other children and adores being in the water. Demi has been diagnosed with four-limb cerebral palsy. She has significant physical and communication difficulties and requires consistent support and therapeutic intervention for her all needs to be met. Demi is unable to sit or stand unaided but can get up on her feet with support and take a few steps. She is non-verbal, but she can vocalise and will smile and laugh when she is happy and cry when she is upset. She is fed orally and recognises familiar faces and has a strong attachment to her mum.

Overview of role:
We are looking for a friendly, warm, and compassionate *female SEN Nanny to work closely with Demi’s mum and provide assistance with Demi’s daily tasks and therapeutic intervention. No two days are ever the same and will depend on Demi’s therapy and medical appointments. Demi receives weekly physio, OT and Speech and Language support. You will have the opportunity to be involved with these sessions and continue implementing specific activities with guidance from therapists during her daily routine. At home Demi enjoys soft play, playing games and spending time in the garden. She has recently been assessed for a walker which will further promote Demi’s independence. Demi also uses a standing frame for 30 minutes a day. The family has recently moved to a new property that will have a hot tub where the physiotherapist will be conducting Demi’s hydrotherapy.

Who this job would suit:
This role will suit an SEN Nanny who is proactive, understanding, and motivated. You’ll be a good team player and happy to work with Demi’s mum and the therapy team. Demi’s mum has been her full-time care provider up until this point, so someone who understands that having help for her daughter, is welcomed, but is a big change for her. You’ll have previous experience supporting a young child with a physical disability and be confident supporting a child in the water. Ideally have experience working in a family setting.

What’s great about this job:
Demi’s mum is warm, has a great sense of humour and is very down to earth. There is a full multi-disciplinary team in place who carry out sessions at home. Excellent bespoke training provided to implement Demi’s therapy programs. Full mandatory and specific clinical training, including manual handling and hydrotherapy will also be provided. Parking is also available for car drivers.
