He is currently studying Economics and Maths at Open University which is his big passion. Peter is a wheelchair user, is ventilator dependent and relies on others with all aspects of personal care and daily living tasks. You will be able to judge when to step in and when to give him his privacy.

Overview of role:
As Peter’s Waking Night Carer, your role will be to monitor Peter throughout the night to ensure he is safe and comfortable. The role will involve assistance with all aspects of the night routine; repositioning, providing personal care and administering medication. You’ll be active during the night regularly taking his temperature and saturation levels. You’ll be in the same room as Peter and will be visually alerted to any changes or if Peter requires your assistance, so you will be able to read with a small light or listen to music with headphones. Peter usually sleeps well and nights are uneventful, but his parents and live-in carer are available to help if needed. You will have use of the family kitchen for tea and coffee etc. You can choose any 2 nights of the week, which will then be fixed. 8.00am to 8.00am. There is the option to also cover staff absences and annual leave. £17.00 gross per hour.

Who this job would suit:
This job will suit a caring, kind, and reliable Waking Night Carer looking for a permanent position. You don’t need to have complex care experience or to have worked as a Waking Night Carer before, but you will need to have some care experience and be comfortable providing personal care. You will be willing to learn new skills and follow instructions.

What’s great about this job:
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain both waking night experience and complex care experience. Comprehensive training is provided by the Senior Support Worker and Peter’s parents. You will initially be shadowing the Senior Support Worker until you feel confident and are competent to work independently. This is a permanent position with competitive hourly rate. You will be working in a friendly environment with a lovely client.
