About this client/child:
The child aged 10 enjoys sensory play, hydrotherapy, and face-to-face interaction. He has an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and although non-verbal communicates via his Eye Gaze, iPad and is very expressive through smiles and laughter. He also has a visual and hearing impairment and is diagnosed with epilepsy. The client’s food and medication is administered via a PEG. He does not take anything orally. He is reliant on others to meet all his personal care needs and uses a hoist for all transfers.

Overview of role:
When supporting the child, the Support Worker will assist him with personal care and play, as well as accessing the community and attending hospital appointments. The job will not involve administering medication or feeding via his PEG as this is always overseen by a family member. There will be some light domestic duties all related to the client, such as cleaning his bathroom and ensuring his equipment is wiped down after use.  As a bank role, you may be asked if you can work within these hours: Monday to Friday: 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm. Weekends and School Holidays: 10.00 am to 2.00 pm / 4.00 pm.

Who this job would suit:
This role will suit a *female Support Worker who enjoys working in a home environment and supporting a client on a 2:1 basis, either with another Support Worker or family member. You will be sensitive to the needs and wishes of the client’s family and respect their privacy. We are looking for a support worker who can speak both English and Punjabi / Hindi to effectively communicate with the family.
