Wage: Up to £17.00 gross per hour
Driver required? Essential. Poor public transport routes mean own transport required.
Use of a car? Yes, large Wheelchair adapted vehicle for use with client.
Essential: Fun, interesting, motivating and proactive,  confident working with non-verbal children with complex care and medical needs, excellent communication skills
Start Date: ASAP  
Days & Hours:  approximately 32 hours per week, part time and full time considered
Pets: 1 dog, 2 cats, 4 guinea pigs.

About this client:
Tom is 8 years old and lives at home with his Mummy, Daddy, older Sister, and younger Brother. He is a gentle natured, empathetic, inquisitive boy. Currently enjoying learning about animals and nature. He loves to be included in games with his siblings and relishes being given important jobs to do. He enjoys music and off-road treks with his dog in his all-terrain wheelchair. Tom has cerebral palsy. He consumes a blended diet, water and medication via gastrostomy button. He is a wheelchair user, is non-verbal and requires catheterisation and suctioning. Most importantly, the biggest satisfaction for Tom who is non-verbal comes through his persistence to communicate, to be heard and to be acknowledged as an independent person.

Overview of role:
We are seeking an experienced, fun Support Worker who will be able to build a strong rapport with Tom. The role involves incorporating therapy programs into fun activities and games. Tom has recently started using eye gaze technology and would like support in developing his skills in play and communication.  Tom needs someone with IT experience who can take on a pivotal role with his assistive technology. Tom is keen to have a fun facilitator – whose role includes developing inclusive activities and games, that he can play with his family and friends and ensure that he is an active contributor to family life. The role includes administering medication, manual handling, repositioning, feeding, personal care, all of which are essential to ensuring that Tom can then have fun and enjoy being himself. £15.00 weekdays and £17.00 weekend gross per hour.
Term time:   Tuesday to Friday, 2.00pm - 7.45pm, and Saturday 7.30am to 5.30pm.
School holidays: hours between, Tuesday to Friday 7.30am to 5.30pm and Saturday 7.03am to 5.30pm

This job will suit a caring, fun, proactive independent thinker, who enjoys working within a family home and providing support at both a 1:1 and 2:1 level. Experience supporting non-verbal clients is essential.
