About this client/child:
Adam is 9 years old; he is an engaging, mischievous, and cheeky chap living in Southwest London with his loving and supportive family. Adam has an acquired brain injury (ABI) and associated social and communication difficulties. He is very active, mobile and making excellent progress with his communication. Adam is able to make his needs and requests known using his PODD book and some Makaton signs. He is working on developing independence skills but requires close supervision at all times and support with self-care tasks.

Overview of role:
The Support Worker role will involve supporting Adam to achieve his therapeutic goals, working alongside and being supported and trained by his MDT (neuro psych, OT, SALT, and Music Therapist) implementing the programs. The Support Worker will arrange and plan weekend activities predominantly in the community and as well as at home.

Who this job would suit:
An experienced Support Worker with a teaching mindset and approach to their work, a self-confident and calm character with previous experience supporting a child with ASC and Behavioral needs. A driver is preferable, and a non-smoker is essential.

What’s great about this job:
The current team working with Adam all say they love the opportunity of having so much access to training in terms of therapy and the ongoing support system in place. They have all had the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and learn new skills. This is a great role for an LSA, Teacher, or TA looking for additional hours.
