About this child:
Peter (13) is an active boy who enjoys playing on his iPad and going to the park.  He has a diagnosis of autism and severe anxiety and is attending a specialist school. Although Peter is normally happy, when frustrated he can present with behaviour that may challenge and become aggressive. Peter can be unsettled by changes in his routine and needs to be informed about changes in advance.

Overview of role:
We are seeking an experienced support worker who will take sole charge of Peter and assist with the afterschool and Saturday routine. You will be confident in managing behaviour, following therapy strategies, and implementing them into Peter’s everyday life. You will have the ability to take direction and work alongside other professionals, Peter has an excellent ABA consultant who will offer regular guidance and training. Guaranteed 25 hours per week, Monday – Friday support at home 3.00pm to 7.30pm, Saturdays 8.00am – 2.00pm, flexibility for evening shifts. £20.00 gross per hour increasing to £25.00 gross per hour after probation period (3 months).

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and energetic, fun, caring and organised with excellent communication skills and the ability to hit the ground running. You will need to have strong skills in behaviour management and be able to de-escalate behaviour that may challenge and be calm and patient.
