Days & Hours: Monday to Friday 7.00 am to 9:30 am, then, 3.00 pm to 7:00 pm. 10 hours per day during school holidays.

About this client/child:
Talia aged 10 is an extremely bright young lady who enjoys being around people. She loves to sing, watch YouTube and be involved in any jokes and games. Talia has cerebral palsy and presents with a hyperkinetic movement disorder. She is mostly non-verbal but communicates well with Makaton, gestures, vocalisation and AAC work with her iPad. Talia uses a manual chair and is currently being assessed for a powerchair. She currently completes standing transfers and can mobilise on her knees and via bottom shuffling.

Overview of role:
We are looking for a *female Support Worker to assist with Talia’s routine, Monday to Friday. She attends a specialist school and is collected on transport. As Talia’s Support Worker you will be involved in all aspects of her daily care needs during the morning and afternoons, this will include personal care, manual handling and being involved in therapy sessions. Talia’s mother has been the full-time care provider up until this point, so it is important to work closely with mum and be understanding that this is a big change for the family.

Who this job would suit:
We are seeking a *female Support Worker who is fun, positive, confident and caring to support Talia. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate previous experience working with a young person with a physical disability and preferably a good understanding on how to support clients who are non-verbal.

You will have the opportunity to observe and be offered bespoke training to implement Talia’s therapy programs throughout the week. Full mandatory and specific clinical training will also be provided.
