Full-Time School Support / Teaching Assistant
Location: Chippenham, SN14
Wage: £42,943.00 Gross per Annum (paid in equal instalments over 12 months) | £22.94 Gross per Hour
Driver Essential? Yes
Essential: Experience working in a secondary school setting and previously supported a student through A levels.
Desirable: Educated to degree level or equivalent
Days & Hours: Term time: Monday to Friday 7.30am – 5.00pm (47.5 hours per week) 18 weeks holidays per year.

About this client:
Our client Jonathan is 15 years old, he lives at home with his Mum, Dad, and two younger sisters. Jonathan is a highly intelligent, outgoing, and charming young man, and is currently getting prepared to begin studying English language A Levels. He attends a private secondary school and requires a TA / LSA to enable him to access the curriculum. He has a wide range of interests and hobbies, including listening to classical music, writing poetry, and baking. Jonathan is currently campaigning for a better education system for students with additional needs and he writes a blog – an incredible young man. Due to a traumatic birth, Jonathan sustained Brain Damage, as a result, he has complex medical needs and requires assistance with all areas of personal and self-care, has a gastrostomy PEG and is dependent on a ventilator during the night. Jonathan is an extremely eloquent young man and uses a spelling board to communicate.

Overview of role:
The role will involve working alongside Jonathan and another team members, and family supporting him with his study programme, campaigning, and communication and at school or at home if required. Jonathan is extremely bright, therefore he needs a Teaching Assistant / School Support that can keep up with him, understands the curriculum, and can plan ahead to ensure he is making the best use of his time so that he gets the most out of his course. The role will involve supporting Jonathan with his personal care and healthcare needs, excellent training is provided in all areas of his support and care plan.

Who this job would suit:
An experienced School Support, Teacher, Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant specifically with experience or knowledge of secondary education and A Levels, preferably English. This is a long-term position.
