About this client/child:
Dean aged 13 loves sports – especially football and rugby! He attends a small independent school and will start his GCSE courses in September. He lives with his parents and younger sister. Dean has an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) because of injuries sustained at birth. He has a left-sided weakness.

Overview of role:
As Dean’s Support Worker, you will be involved in assisting with his afterschool routine with an emphasis on supporting with homework, revision and helping him to develop his independence skills, especially with meal prep and organisation.  It is also important to arrange some downtime where sporting activities are really encouraged. Dean receives support from a full therapy team, SALT, OT and physio to help develop language processing, development, core stability and also assist with his left-sided weakness. Some assistance will be needed for him to undertake these therapy programmes.

Who this job would suit:
We are looking for a dynamic Support Worker who has a love for sports and someone who is confident at using their own initiative. It is important that candidates can encourage Dean to find different ways of doing things and help to continue developing his independence skills. The Support Worker will need to have access to their own car to use to take Dean out in the community, mileage will be paid when on duty.
