About this client/child:
Jake, 14 is a friendly and bright young man. He enjoys gaming on his Xbox, Go Ape and he loves spending time with his new therapy dog. As a result of meningitis Jake has acquired brain injury and has been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. He has a poor gross and fine motor skills, and his communication is limited. He suffers from Asthma and Eczema.

Overview of role:
We are seeking a positive, kind and intuitive Support Worker/ Buddy who has experience supporting young clients with Aspergers syndrome and behaviour which may challenge. Your role would be to support Jake with his afterschool routine and during school holidays; encourage him to engage in activities and help him to work on his social skills. The working hours are Monday, Tuesday 3.30pm to 5.30pm and Thursday 3.15pm to 5.15pm term time and 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in school holidays. There may be scope for this to be extended once the relationship has been established. The family are offering £13.00 to £15.00 gross per hour depending on experience.
