About this client:
Sana (14) is a delightful young lady who enjoys watching YouTube videos and educational programmes; Listening to ‘The Quran’ and ‘Nasheeds’ (Islamic songs) are favourites!  Sana also loves swimming.  She has two sisters whom she absolutely adores. As you can imagine this is a busy, fun home! Sana has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, she is visually impaired, non-verbal and her medication, fluids and nutrition are given via gastrostomy.  Sana is capable of making her feelings known, however it is essential you are confident in communicating with a non-verbal child. She is developing her communication skills using an eye gaze device.  She is dependent on others for all her daily needs; however, this does not hold her back! She enjoys spending time out of her wheelchair, doing her physio exercises, standing, and walking with support, amongst other things. For Sana to continue the benefits of exercise, being fit and happy to get down on the floor is a must!

Overview of role:
This position will involve personal care (bathing and toileting), manual handling, cooking and preparing Sana’s blended diet, administering medication and feeds via gastrostomy, keeping Sana’s areas tidy and doing her laundry. Your role, as well as championing Sana in her daily life, will be to support other team members and Sana’s family. This is a very active role; Sana follows a home-schooling program that includes implementing physical intervention and support with communication. As her Support Worker, you will help Sana to access learning plans, and you will deliver and explore new therapies in a fun and creative way. £13.00 to £15.00 gross per hour depending on experience. Part Time- and Full-Time hours available, hours and days to be discussed with the family.

Who this job would suit:
The ideal candidate will be fun, caring, organised with excellent communication skills and the ability to hit the ground running. Sana loves swimming and you have to be happy taking her to the pool. Sana is exploring lots of new therapies so this is a great opportunity for learning. This role involves working alongside mum and Sana’s team. We would love to hear from candidates with experience in PT, OT, SALT or Conductive Education or enthusiastic candidates who are willing to learn and gain new skills.

What’s great about this job:
Sana is a joy to be around, you will become part of a warm, friendly, and dedicated team.  There will be excellent training opportunities; the family are very interested in conductive education, https://conductive-education.org.uk/ and you will gain new skills and valuable knowledge. Working hours can be flexible for the right candidate.
