About this client:
Kate, 28, is a lovely and warm young lady who enjoys sensory activities like massage, yoga, music, and dancing. She particularly enjoys going out for walks in nearby Hampstead Heath or Regents Park. Kate lives independently in a self-contained flat in her parents’ house. Kate has profound learning difficulties, severe epilepsy and is visually impaired; she is a full-time wheelchair user. Kate communicates with body movements and can express her likes and dislikes.

Overview of role:
We are seeking a dedicated, intuitive, and motivated female* Support Worker to provide 1:1 support to Kate. Every day with Kate is different and you will be adaptable to her needs. You’ll assist Kate with all aspects of her daily routine, including her personal care, administering medication, and mealtimes. Kate eats a very healthy diet and you should have an interest in healthy cooking. You will support Kate to access and engage in different activities, such as yoga, dance classes and music sessions, and thinking of new activities/day trips she may enjoy. Days and hours: One and a half days per week (18 hours), 8.15am to 9.00pm, and 2.45pm to 9.00pm. Days are flexible for the right candidate, please state your availability. £15.00 gross per hour weekdays, £17.00 gross per hour weekends.

 

Who this job would suit:
This rewarding position will suit a warm, caring and proactive, female* candidate who enjoys supporting young clients on 1:1 basis and working in a home environment. You will have experience supporting clients with similar complex needs and confident with manual handling; you will be required to assist Kate with all her transfers. Her flat is fully adapted and fitted with ceiling hoist. You will be calm and be able to manage Kate’s seizures; comprehensive training will be provided. You will be a self-starter with plenty of common sense, be flexible and adaptable to all aspects of this role.
