About this client:
Maddie (8) is a bright,  independent and very sociable little girl. Maddie has a doting brother and a sister who she loves playing with. She enjoys the company of others; pretend play, Lego, dancing and particularly being pushed on her swing will make her so happy!  Maddie also likes watching TV and playing on her iPad, which she is allowed once all her homework is finished. Maddie has a very rare genetic condition that affects her gross and fine motor skills, speech, and can present with behaviour that may challenge. Maddie is limited verbal due to lack control of her tongue, she is using short words and short sentences to communicate, as well as Makaton which she is using very effectively.

Overview of role:
We are looking for a lively, motivated, and practical SEN Nanny to work alongside the family’s other nanny, supporting Maddie and her siblings. This role is very flexible; the family can consider candidates who are looking for either live in or live out. In this role you will promote Maddie’s independence and teach her self-help skills e.g., support with personal care, and teeth brushing.  Maddie goes to a specialist school and is doing very well with her academic work but requires motivation and encouragement with her homework. You will be confident to assist her in a fun, creative and playful way! The hours are Monday to Friday, 4.00pm to 7.00pm but extra hours in the mornings and during school holidays are also available. £16.00 to £18.00 gross per hour depending on experience.

Who this job would suit:
This role will suit an upbeat, hands on, and experienced, Specialist Nanny. You will be familiar with working in a family setting, and adaptable to the different aspects of this type of role. The ability to detect and deescalate possible triggers to Maddie’s behaviours that may challenge is very important. Showing consistency in your work, support of Maddie will be paramount to her reaching her full potential.

What’s great about this job:
This is a fantastic opportunity to utilise all your skills and help this amazing little girl. This is a permanent role with excellent Makaton training opportunity available. If you are interested in the live in position, you will have a cosy room with ensuite bathroom at the top of the house.
