About this client/child:
Simon is a very bright, happy little boy who is a whizz communicating using Eye Gaze and other low-tech AAC! He loves riding his adapted trike, going to the park, and watching cartoons. Simon turns 5 soon and will starting school in September. Simon has Cerebral Palsy and requires support for all his physical needs. Support is 2:1 to accommodate his moving and handling needs. Simon uses a wheelchair when out and about, but indoors will ‘bunny hop’ to get around. He does this very quickly, so you’ll need to keep a close eye on him at all times!

Overview of role:
We are looking for an outgoing, proactive, fun support workers to join Simon’s well-established team. Your role will be to support Simon in all aspects of his care, learning and therapy; he has an amazing rehabilitation therapy team and a detailed care plan. The hours and days available are: Alternate Sundays and one Saturday every 4 weeks, 7.00am to 7.00pm, and term-time two set weekday afternoons, 2.30pm to 7.00pm (days can be mutually agreed and then fixed). During the school holidays it will be three full weekdays, 7.00am to 7.00pm. (You may be asked to cover from time to time outside those hours). This can be a job share, so please state your availability and preferred shifts when applying. £16.00 gross weekdays and £18.00 gross weekends.

Who this job would suit:
This role will suit someone who really wants to get involved with the team; to seize the opportunity of learning how to implement Simon’s therapies to help him reach his potential. A background in care is required, but you’ll receive fantastic training so someone who has the enthusiasm to learn and build on their skills and experience is what is most important. You’ll be enthusiastic, reliable and a great team player. You’ll need to be physically fit to be able to keep up with Simon and play with him on the floor. You’ll be imaginative, engaging and enjoy playing with Simon.

The family appreciate when someone can cover someone else’s shift at short notice and pay an additional £25.00 bonus if you do this with less than 24 hours’ notice.
