About this client/child:
Joey aged 5 is a very happy, bubbly and extroverted little boy who enjoys being social. He enjoys being active and outside with some of his favourite activities being playing in the woods, climbing trees, badminton, cycling, swimming and scooting! His special interests are in trains and dinosaurs and he especially loves taking a trip to the National History Museum to visit the T-rex. Joey has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition and Global Developmental Delay. He is verbal but has a speech delay. Joey has sensory difficulties and really struggles with his anxiety which can lead him to behavioural outbursts.

Overview of role:
We are looking for SEN Nanny to support Joey during term and holiday time. Joey attends a mainstream school but has a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support him. During term time, the family require 20 core hours to cover after school hours (3.00pm to 7.00pm) and some additional babysitting which will be mutually agreed. Typical duties include picking Joey up from school (10-minute walk from house), supporting him with homework, social interaction skills, behaviour management, dinner preparation and reading a story before bedtime. There will be a key focus on helping Joey improve his self-care/independent skills, for example brushing his teeth. Joey really struggles with regulating his emotions and has lots of sensory difficulties around wearing clothes so supporting him with this will be important. During the summer holidays the hours will increase to 40 hours per week. The holiday period is a great time to organise educational excursions and activities. The hourly rate offered is £18.00 gross per hour.

Who this job would suit:
This role will suit a SEN Nanny who has hands on autism experience and all-round good SEN experience. You should have good sense of humour, be patient and fun-loving. Joey is very strong and can have outbursts which lead him to lash out so we are looking for someone who can confidently manage these behaviours whilst being physically strong and fit! Someone with a creative interest in drama, singing, music, art or sports would be a great advantage.

What’s great about this job:
This is a great opportunity to join a loving family and really make a valued impact on Joey’s future development. There would also be the opportunity to accompany the family on holiday.
