About this client/child:
Leah (31) is a lovely young lady who enjoys listening to music and stories, spending time in her sensory room and going for walks in her wheelchair. Leah has Aicardi Syndrome, epilepsy, sight impairment and requires assistance in every aspect of her life. Leah is non verbal but can express her likes and dislikes. When you get to know her and are patient you will be able to understand her communication.

Overview of role:
The role will involve assistance with all aspects of personal care and all aspects of daily living; you must be confident in manual handling, providing personal care and administering medication. You will accompany Leah to her appointments and support her to access community. You will work alongside another carer which will enable Leah to visit places outside her home that she enjoys. The family have an adapted vehicle, which the current carer drives so Leah can access these places.
Days and hours required are Thursday and Friday 8.30am to 4.00pm but there are opportunities to cover holidays and illnesses. We are looking for a flexible candidate who would also be willing to cover occasional weekends when Leah’s family are away. £14.00 gross per hour.

This position would suit a calm, competent and patient candidate who enjoys working in a home environment. You’ll need to be a team player, working alongside other team members and Leah’s parents and being respectful and sensitive to their needs.
