About this client/child:
Tom is 12 years old and lives with his family in a beautiful, fully adapted home. Tom loves to be read to, listening to music and sensory activities. He loves to be taken to the park and enjoys his hydrotherapy sessions. Tom has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and complex care needs; he has all food and medication via a PEG and requires suctioning. He communicates with sounds and facial expressions. Tom attends a specialist school when he is well enough to do so. He is a wheelchair user and is totally dependent on others to meet his care needs.

Overview of role:
Tom requires 24/7 support so you will be part of his loyal team. The role offers 36 hours a week on a monthly rota and is a mix of both day and night shifts. As part of his home care team, you will play a key role in providing the highest standard of care and well-being. Tom has a range of therapies including music therapy, occupational, hydro and physiotherapy. You will be trained to implement these therapies and client specific training is also provided for his more complex needs such as suctioning and administering   rescue medication. You will support Tom out in the community and within the home. The rate of pay starts at £12.12 gross per hour (weekdays), £13.13 (Weekends), £13.13 (Nights, weekday), £14.14 (Nights, weekends) and £18.18 Bank Holidays. After the probation period this rises to £12.85 gross per hour (weekdays), £13.92 (Weekends), £13.92 (Nights, weekday), £14.98 (Nights, weekends) and £19.27 Bank Holidays.

Who this job would suit:
This role will suit a dedicated, caring, patient support worker who wants the best for Tom. Some days, Tom will enjoy gentle times of being read to quietly, or listing to music, so it will suit someone who can be calm and patient. You will need experience of supporting a client with similar needs.

What’s great about this job:
It is a lovely work environment, you will be part of a dedicated team, some of whom who have been with Tom for many years. The family are warm and welcoming and live in a lovely, fully adapted house that meets all his needs, in a beautiful location. Excellent training and support is provided.
