About this client/child:
Amber aged 12 is a charming young lady who is very sociable and enjoys interacting with others. She has cerebral palsy which restricts her mobility and communication. She has an electrical wheelchair for both indoors and outdoors, she can drive her wheelchair independently using a joystick. Amber uses an assistive communication device to communicate her needs. A hoist is used for most of Amber’s transfers and she receives all her food and fluid via her PEG. Amber lives at home with her mother and father during the weekends and school holidays. During term time she attends a residential school placement in Alton

Overview of role:
Your role will be to support Amber 2:1 with her daily routine, providing personal care, assisting with meals, supporting her with homework and organising fun activities and outings. You will play a key part in Amber’s therapeutic programmes and will act as her advocate and companion. During Term-time, two Support Workers are required to drive Amber to school on a Monday and pick her up on a Friday afternoon in her wheelchair accessible vehicle, this is 70 miles from the clients’ home. **The shifts that are available Term-time are: Monday 6.00am to 1.00pm, Friday 10.00am to 9.30pm, Saturday and Sunday 7.00am to 11.00am, then 6.30pm to 9.30pm. During the school holidays the weekend shifts stay the same but there is additional hours available Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 9.30pm. £15.00 gross per hour weekdays, £17.00 gross per hour weekends. This role will suit a cheerful, caring, and proactive Support Worker with strong communication skills. All candidates should be confident working with children with complex medical needs, including manual handling and administering medication and enjoy working in a family setting.
