About this client/child:
Leo aged 5 is a delightful little boy who enjoys being in the company of others. He has four limb cerebral palsy with high muscle tone which is painful for him at times. He has no functional movement in his arms or legs and is unable to sit unsupported or weight bear. For all mobility and transfers he is dependent on being carried, hoisted, or the use of his wheelchair. Leo is non-verbal, but those familiar with his care, can identify when he is comfortable and happy. He is registered blind and because of a hearing impairment wears bilateral hearing aids. Leo also has epilepsy for which he takes regular medication and receives all his food and fluid via his PEG.

Overview of role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a *Female Support Worker to a join Leo’s team. The Support Worker will work closely with Leo’s parents and support team to meet his personal, nutritional, medical and leisure needs. You will work to agreed goals and play an active role in in his therapeutic programmes. We are looking for a confident driver as Leo has his own wheelchair accessible vehicle that you may be required to drive. The roles can offer an average of 36 hours a week over 7 days, £15.00 during the week and £17.00 gross per hour during the weekend. The Rota will be given at least two weeks in advance and there is the opportunity of additional hours, including Waking Night shifts. Please see the core day shifts below:

Term Time: Monday to Friday; 3.00pm to 9.00pm
School Holidays: Monday to Friday 9.00am to 9.00pm (long or short shifts available)
Weekends: 9.00am to 9.00pm (long or short shifts available)

Who this job would suit:
We are looking for a caring and compassionate Support Worker who can work closely with Leo’s parents. You must be confident supporting a young child with complex needs and have excellent communication skills. Due to the location of the house Support Workers will be required to have their own transport. 

What’s great about this job:
You will have the opportunity to work with a full multi-disciplinary team and will be provided further training in: First Aid, PEG management and medication administration, Moving and Handling, Speech and language therapy, Physiotherapy programme and OT support.
