About this client/child:
This lovely family adopted three children in 2012 who all came from quite a chaotic family background. Sarah aged 12 is a chatty and bright young lady who is very theatrical and enjoys drawing, fashion and reading. Sarah attends a mainstream girls day school. She can struggle to regulate her emotions in stressful situations. She needs support to regulate and to reinforce strong, consistent boundaries. George aged 13 enjoys all kinds of art and especially computer games. He is a weekly boarder at a special therapeutic school. He returns home at weekends and school holidays. He also needs strong, consistent boundaries that reinforce the therapeutic work the school is doing. George can struggle to understand the needs of others and can wind them up in pursuit of a reaction. Alistair aged 15 loves football and is very into fashion. He attends a 52-week residential school due to his additional needs, but he comes home for short periods of time in the school holidays. Alister needs support in being with his siblings and parents, managing his emotions and stepping away from conflict.

Overview of role:
This family have been working closely with a therapeutic consultant and Snap Support Worker for about two years and great progress has been made. We are now looking for a new Support Worker who can continue the fantastic work that has been achieved. This role requires a confident and emotionally robust support worker to work closely with the children, both parents, and associated professionals. Most of your time would be spent with Sarah and main areas to focus on will be assisting in maintaining consistent boundaries, promoting independence, emotional regulation resilience and empathy whilst also occupying the children on outings to help develop social skills. You will need to be confident to be in sole charge, working independently, initiating, organising and engaging the children in age-appropriate activities. The Family are looking for someone Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday until mid-afternoon (They are happy to offer this as a job share, please enquire). For extra hours the family can also offer Wednesday and Thursday evening which would be solely focused around Sarah. During the school holidays they will require 40 hours a week, 8-hour shifts, flexible on which days. The rate offered is £19.00 gross per hour.

Who this job would suit:
This job will suit someone who is confident in working in a family setting, someone playful and positive, reliable, empathetic, patient and calm, especially when presented with defiant and confrontational behaviour. You must remain professional, emotionally robust and mature whilst presenting as a positive role model. We are looking for candidates who can offer consistency and have a commitment to learning the tools and techniques to best support the children.

What’s great about this job:
This will be a fantastic opportunity to make a significant contribution to the lives of these children, by offering guidance and stability, whilst supporting both parents of this warm and welcoming family.

Who is recruiting for this role?
Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and arranging employer interviews.
