Recruiter: Rachael, Rachael@snapcare.co.uk

About this client/child:
Tom and his family are well known to Snap Care; we are incredibly privileged to have known Tom since he was 7 years old. Tom is now 23 and attends college full time. He is surrounded by his rather fabulous family including his two younger, fiercely supportive sisters. Tom has complex medical needs; he is registered blind, has severe epilepsy, is non-verbal, requires support with all his personal care, and has a JEG/PEG tube in place. He has moderate learning difficulties and challenges with communication, but a good understanding of the world around him. He has nebulisers and chest physio in the morning and evening.

Overview of role:
We are on the search for a team of Support Workers who can offer ongoing support during Tom’s college holidays. Tom has hoists and a changing table in his room with an elevator to the kitchen. Tom loves activities and exploration and is looking to have fun during his holidays from college. Sometimes, Tom just wants to chill, or weather permitting when he will want to take his dog out to the park (Pinner has lovely green areas to walk through), or to the coffee shop. Tom will indicate how he is feeling and what he wants to do. The next set of holiday dates the family will require support will be during the summer holidays running from Monday 25th July until Friday 2nd September inclusive. The family will be traveling to a coastal holiday house between 29th July to 5th August and would be looking for the carer to travel with them. The carer will have a week off (when Tom is in respite) from Monday 15th August to Friday 20th August.

Who this job would suit:
This role would suit someone who is studying and looking for extra holiday hours. Candidates should have prior experience supporting a client with complex needs, especially when it comes to manual handling and personal care.

What’s great about this job:
Tom is what is brilliant about this job. He is incredibly kind, gentle, and patient. And he likes a laugh! You will work hard but it’ll be worth it to see Tom have a great holiday. The family will initially be offering £20.00 gross per hour but will increase to £23.00 after a successful probation period.

Who is recruiting for this role?
Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and arranging employer interviews.
