About this client/child:
Amy is 17 years old and is a very placid young lady who enjoys music, sensory activities, hydrotherapy and going on walks. Amy is a full-time wheelchair user, non-verbal, has profound learning difficulties and epilepsy. She has multiple daily seizures and has a Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS) in place to help treat the seizures. Amy’s Mum will offer training on how this works. Amy will require full adult support for all her daily care needs including personal care and lots of patience when feeding as Amy requires all her food to be pureed.

Overview of role:
This role requires a female Support Worker with bags of energy who is keen to help in any way possible. The key aspects of the role will be to assist Amy’s parents with meeting all her personal care needs, administering of medication, preparation of meals and assisting with general cleaning and tidying of areas used together with some laundry tasks related to Amy. You will attend the occasional medical appointments. The family can offer between £15.00 to £16.00 gross per hour depending on experience. During Term Time the shifts are Monday to Friday 7.15am to 10.15am, then 3.15pm to 7.15pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. During the school holidays the same number of hours will be guaranteed but without the split shifts. Additional hours babysitting per week can also be agreed.

Who this job would suit:
This role will suit an energetic, pro-active and caring Support Worker with proven experience in the care field. Whilst epilepsy experience would be an advantage, it is not essential as all training can be provided for the right person.  The family have three lovely dogs and Amy loves going out for walks with them in the beautiful surrounding area, so someone who likes animals and spending time outside would be great! The family will provide a manual car which can be used when on duty.

What’s great about this job:
This is a great opportunity to join a friendly family and really make a big impact on Amy’s day to day life. The family’s most recent Support Worker had been with them since 2016 highlighting what a great family they are to work with.
