About this client:
Arthur (8) is a bright, active, and sparky little lad. Arthur enjoys swimming, baking, story time and spending time with his family. Arthur is incredibly determined, focused, and strives for his independence. He expresses his feelings via a communication device and knows what he wants to do. He was diagnosed with Dystonic Cerebral Palsy and has epilepsy. Arthur can eat pureed food by spoon with guidance, small amounts at a time.

Overview of role:
As a waking night carer, your role will be to monitor Arthur throughout the night to ensure he is safe and comfortable. The role will involve assistance with all aspects of the night routine; you must be confident in manual handling, providing personal care and administering medication. You will carefully monitor Arthur’s seizures. Arthur has a seizure and video monitor. During this time, you’ll keep occupied to be alert and of course, always awake. One of your duties will be to keep his equipment clean and tidy, and plan his activities for the next day. You can carry the video monitor around, so you can use an adjoining room while on shift which includes: a comfortable chair, tea and coffee making facilities.
Arthur requires assistance to get up at 6.30am and to prepare for school. This involves washing and dressing assistance and giving him his breakfast.

Shifts available: Monday to Sunday nights, 8:00pm to 8.15am. The client is seeking 2 or 3 waking night carers to cover 7 nights a week. Nights will be fixed, once agreed, but with some flexibility to swap nights within the team for specific occasions/to cover sickness and holidays. £15.00 gross per hour weekdays, £17.00 gross per hour weekends.
