About this client/child:
Archie, 20, is an active, cheeky young man who enjoys swimming whenever he has a chance, he likes jumping on the trampoline or being on a swing and any activities which are sensory based. Archie has an Acquired Brain Injury which presents with severe learning, cognitive and speech impairments. Archie is mobile, however has unco-ordinated movements and cortical visual impairment, therefore needs to be supported to avoid tripping and falling. Archie doesn’t have any danger awareness and requires support with all daily tasks and personal care. At times he can become anxious and stressed and can present with behaviour which may challenge.

Overview of role:
We are looking for a friendly and proactive Bank Support Worker to accompany and support Archie at the day centre which he currently attends 3 times per week. Transport and driver are provided. Archie enjoys being at the centre and you will supervise, assist and encourage Archie to take part in all activities the centre offers. Archie requires 2:1 support and you will be working alongside another team member. Archie can occasionally become unsettled when he feels the place is too crowded or noisy and you will need to be able to reassure him and deescalate the situation quickly. You will liaise with the staff at the centre and provide feedback to Archie’s family upon returning home. Hours: 8.00am to 5.00pm, bank shifts available to cover annual leave, staff sickness. £14.00 gross per hour.
