About this client/child:
Ella is 15 years old; she is an exceptionally bright young lady who enjoys listening to audio books and keeping up with her friends on social media. Ella is physically disabled and is reliant on others to meet all her care needs (personal care, eating and positioning in bed). She is a wheelchair user (electric) and has a diagnosis of Ataxia. Emma lives at home with her Mum, Dad and 3 brothers.
Overview of role:
The family are looking for a cheery individual who can connect well with Ella and support her physical and social needs whilst also helping facilitate her access to education (working with her, acting as a scribe, supporting her use of IT). The family can offer up to 16 hours a week, flexible timings across Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday’s.
Who this job would suit:
This role will suit a cheerful, energetic, patient and passionate Support Worker. The ideal candidate will have prior experience supporting a young client with a physical disability. You should be happy to take an active interest in things a teenage girl would be interested in and be confident supporting Ella with her GCSE curriculum.
