About this client/child:
Isla 11 is an extremely bright young lady. She is very sociable and loves being around people who are having fun, smiling, and laughing. She lives with her mother and three siblings and is part of an extremely close-knit family. Isla’s favourite TV programme is Supernanny, and you will always find her perfectly dressed in pink or purple! Isla has Athetoid cerebral palsy with profound physical impairment. She communicates very well using Eye Gaze. She is fed a blended diet orally with full support, and drinks from a bottle with a spout. Isla has epilepsy that is well controlled by medication.

Overview of role:
We are looking for a *female Support Worker to assist with Isla’s routine, Monday to Friday.  You will be involved in all aspects of Isa’s daily care needs including personal care, manual handling, medication administration and therapy sessions. Isla attends a specialist school that her mother takes her to and from in her adapted vehicle. Isla’s mother has been the full-time care provider up until this point, so it will be important for you to work closely with mum and be aware that this is a big adjustment for the family.  Isla’s extended family all live in Tunisia where her mother was born, and they will visit for most summer holidays.

Who this job would suit:
This would be a lovely role for a bubbly, confident and conscientious *Female Support Worker who is happy to work in partnership with Isla’s mum and be sensitive to know when it’s appropriate to take a step back.  We are looking for candidates who are confident supporting a client with a physical disability. Experience with epilepsy and Eye gaze communication would be a bonus, but training is provided.

What’s great about this job:
This is a lovely opportunity for a *Female Support Worker to join an exceptionally warm and welcoming family. Isla has a full multi-disciplinary team in place who carry out sessions at home and in school. You will have the chance to observe and be offered bespoke training to implement Isla’s therapy programs throughout the week. Full mandatory and specific clinical training will also be provided.
