Wage/Salary: £15.00 gross per hour
Driver Essential? Yes
Essential: Experience of working in a care environment with adults with disabilities, excellent spoken English and Non-smoker. Must live within a 40-minute radius.
Desirable: Basic administration & IT skills, NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or above
Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: Bank contract available, 12-hour shifts Monday to Sunday – Rota set out monthly

About this client:
Tom is in his 40’s and is an active, friendly, and sociable man who loves family life. He enjoys playing on the PlayStation, fishing, going to the gym, cinema and listening to music. He is a Veteran, having served in the Armed Forces for nearly 20 years, this is a big part of his life. Due to his Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), he experiences profound neurological, communication and mobility difficulties. He also has epilepsy. All of this affects his daily living skills, general performance day to day and his social integration. He will require assistance with his personal care and parenting support.

Overview of role:
As a Support Worker you will help him manage aspects of his daily life, both at home and in the community. The role is focused on maximising his independence and wellbeing by providing companionship, encouragement, and advice. You will also enable him by supporting his rehabilitation needs and creating a stimulating environment for him whilst ensuring his safety and minimising any risks. Overall, helping to enhance his quality of life and aid him in achieving his goals. Bank contracts are being offered to cover shifts, staff sickness and holidays. There is the potential for additional overnight sleeping shifts, this will be mutually agreed.

Who this job would suit:
This role will suit a friendly and upbeat Support Worker with a good sense of humour who can demonstrate a person-centred approach and can remain calm and composed when faced with challenging situations. Tom really dislikes lateness and impoliteness, so punctuality is key! A driver is essential and someone who has their car would be preferable due to the location of the family home. A car can be provided to use when on duty. Tom lives with his young child, so experience of being around young children is preferable and you must be willing to support him in his parenting and in enjoying family life.
