About this client:
‘B’ is 48 years old and lives with his wife and two children in his fully adapted home in Kent. ‘B’ sustained a Brain injury several years ago, which has affected his short-term memory. He can find it difficult to process everything that is being said to him; clear communication and patience are essential for this role. ‘B’ self-propels a manual wheelchair and has good upper body strength. He is a keen Liverpool fan, enjoys trundles by the seafront, and spending time with family.  Hydro sessions will become a regular fixture of his week shortly. ‘B’ has a great sense of humour; therefore, his Personal Assistants must have good banter!

Overview of role:
The Care Team Leader will have the opportunity to support ‘B’ 1:1 as well as manage a team of Personal Assistants. ‘B’ wants his team and Team Leader to promote his independence, enable him to fulfil his role within his family, support him to stay focused and motivated on tasks, to be proactive and arrange new activities and explore new interests. ‘B’ also attends a day center twice a week.

The Team Leader will be responsible for completing rotas, managing timesheets, petty cash, stock levels and medication, as well as diary management, arranging training and completing supervisions for team members etc. You will work in collaboration with ‘B’, his family, Care Team, MDT and Case Manager. Shift times: Sunday to Friday 9.00am – 9.00pm and Saturdays 08:00am – 8:00pm. Occasional morning cover from 7:00am – 9:00am Monday to Friday.

Who this job would suit:
An experienced Team Leader with experience supporting an adult client with an ABI. You must be a confident manual driver and a swimmer. It is essential you are patient and have excellent communication skills, due to ‘B’’s short-term memory loss and difficulties processing information, these are essential skills.

What’s great about this job:
This is a role that you can make your own, bring in fresh new ideas and work alongside a great team of PA’s. ‘B’ has achieved so much, but he still has much progress to make and with the right Team Leader supporting him, that will be achieved. ‘B’ is a pleasure to work with and support, no two days are the same and you will have many laughs along the way!
