Support Worker
Location: Broadstairs, Canterbury, CT10
Wage: £16.00 Weekdays | £17.00 Weekends | Gross per Hour
Driver Essential? Yes, manual.
Essential: Previous SEN experience and experience working within a school or family setting
Days & Hours: Term-time: Thursday 2.30pm – 7.00pm Friday: 7.00am – 9.30am and 2.30pm – 7.00pm Saturday: 6 or 8 hours (with notice and mutually agreed) School holidays: Thursday, 9.00am – 7.00pm, Friday 7.00am – 7.00pm and Saturday hours (with notice and mutually agreed)

About this client:
Harry is 9 years old, he has oodles of energy, is very active, and loves swimming, horse riding, football, and riding his trike. Harry has Cerebral Palsy; he can crawl and uses a walker and wheelchair to support his mobility, his verbal communication is very good, and he loves to chat! He attends a mainstream school setting and requires an active, outgoing, and fun Support Worker to assist 3 days per week.

Overview of role:
As Harry’s Support Worker you will provide hands-on support with self-help skills, personal care tasks and the school runs. You will also assist with homework, implementing his therapy and rehabilitation programmes provided by his therapy team, plan activities, attend events and also facilitate Harry in participating in hobbies and exploring new interests. The Support Worker will continually promote Harry’s independence. The Support Worker will be Harry’s advocate, empowering and encouraging him to reach his full potential.

Who this job would suit:
An energetic, proactive, and engaging Support Worker with previous experience supporting a young person with additional needs. Harry would like his Support Worker to share similar interests. It is essential that you are a confident swimmer (Harry loves to swim and has a swim spa in his garden), non-smoker and confident driver. We are happy to consider a Support Worker who is unable to commit to working every weekend but can work 2 or 3 per month.
