About this client/child:
Layla is a delightful 14-year-old who is at the heart of a warm and friendly family. She lives with her mum and dad and younger sister in a beautiful, and full adapted house. Layla enjoys water/bath time, sensory activities; being sung or read to, listening to music and being with people. She feels secure when she has someone near her, and she is never left on her own. Layla has cerebral palsy and severe epilepsy and requires assistance to meet all her daily needs. She uses hoists to transfer, has gastrostomy feeds and is a wheelchair user. Layla is unable to verbally communicate but can hear you and responds with facial expressions, noises, and smiles.
Overview of role:
We are seeking 1 or 2 *female support workers for Layla for Saturdays and Sundays. Layla requires support for all her needs including personal care, moving, and handling, administering medication and feed via her PEG. Layla has chest physio and requires suctioning to manage her secretions. Her epilepsy is not fully controlled and at times she may require hospital treatment. As well as attending to her care and clinical needs, you’ll spend time with Layla providing sensory activities she will enjoy and find relaxing. This might be singing to her, reading aloud to her or sometimes just to quietly be with her while you stroke her cheek. While you will spend time on your own with Layla, there will always be another adult in the house. This can be a job share between 2 people. Please state your availability/preferred day(s) of work.
Who this job would suit:
This role will suit a kind, thoughtful and patient *female support worker. You’ll have experience as either a carer or support worker and genuinely enjoy being with children. The job offers excellent training so if you are someone who wants to up your clinical skills, this is an ideal role.
