About this client/child:
Tim (17) is a charming young man, with great sense of humour and passion for music. Tim attends a residential college during the week and at the weekends he is surrounded by his loving family. He has 3 younger siblings; it is a busy household! Tim has cerebral palsy, he is registered blind and has severe epilepsy. His house is fully adapted for his needs and he requires 2 to 1 support at all times. Tim is non verbal but he is able to express his likes and dislikes and once you get to know him you will understand his communication.

Overview of role:
 As a waking night carer, your role will be to monitor Tim throughout the night to ensure he is safe and comfortable. The role will involve assistance with all aspects of the night routine; you must be confident in manual handling, providing personal care and administering medication. During this time, you’ll keep occupied to be alert and of course awake. Shifts available Term Time: Friday: 4.00pm to 8.00pm followed by waking night shift 10.00pm to 8.00am, Saturday and Sunday 10.00pm to 8.00am. School holiday: 1 waking night and 1 sleeping night per week 10.00pm to 8.00am, flexible days 9.00am to 8.00pm.  Opportunity to cover other shifts (sick leave, annual leave). £14.00 gross per week and £16.00 gross per weekend

This job will suit a motivated, proactive candidate with plenty of common sense who has strong experience supporting a young client with a disability and understands the importance of promoting independence. You must remain calm and confident to manage Tim’s seizures.
