About this client:
Luca (5) is a smiley, curious and social little boy who enjoys spending time with his family and the people who care for him. He can recognize them and always has the biggest smile ready for them. Luca is very alert, he likes to play with his toys, listen to music and watch TV. Luca has a severe motor disorder, cerebral palsy, a hearing impairment, and epilepsy; he requires 2:1 assistance during the day. He is fed via a PEG and blended diet. Luca has high frequency hearing loss in both ears and wears hearing aids. Luca is non-verbal and will let you know through facial expressions his likes and dislikes. He is using PECS and Eye Gaze to support his communication.


Overview of role:
We are looking for a lively, warm, and fun *female support worker to assist Luca with all the daily tasks at home and at school. You will support Luca with all aspects of personal care, administer his medication and feeds, enable him to access his learning, implement therapy in a fun and playful way in Luca’s daily routine and organize age-appropriate activities Luca can engage in. During term-time you will accompany Luca to school and provide support to ensure he gets as much access to learning as possible and continues in his development. £15.00 gross per hour weekdays, £17.00 gross per hour weekends.

The role is 3 days per week, 8.00am to 8.00pm based on a 4 week rota:

Week 1 – Monday, Tuesday, Friday            Week 2 – Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday
Week 3 – Monday, Tuesday, Friday            Week 4 – Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday

Who this job would suit:
This position will suit a bright, intuitive and resourceful *female support worker who enjoys providing 1:1 support and has extensive experience supporting children with complex medical needs. Luca has a large team and you will be a team player, happy to work alongside his other team members and family.  Luca enjoys swimming and attends regular hydrotherapy sessions; competent swimmer is essential.
