About this client/child:
Hayley aged 32 enjoys listening to home recorded books, puzzles and watching children DVDs. She is also very creative and loves scrapbooking, sewing and embroidery. Hayley is autistic and has complex needs; she has severe speech and language delay, learning difficulties and high-frequency hearing loss. Hayley has some verbal and communication and uses written, verbal or Sign Supported English and/ or BSL. Hayley requires 1:1 support and will need assistance with her personal care needs.

Overview of role:
We are looking for a Part Time *Female Buddy / Support Worker to spend time with Hayley within the home and in the community.  At times you will be working closely with Hayley’s parents so must be comfortable with this. Part of your role will be to work on understanding Hayley’s communication and supporting her to help structure activities and fun through the day. The family can offer 10 hours per week and are flexible in how this is arranged. For example, Monday/Tuesday 10.00am to 3.00pm or Thursday/Friday 10.00am to 3.00pm. The role is offering between £15.00 to £25.00 gross per hour depending on experience.

Who this job would suit:
This role will suit someone who has worked in a special needs setting. You must be patient, kind and really willing to take the time to get to know Hayley. You’ll need be able to tolerate repetition as Hayley has limited interests. Showing a willingness to get involved in activities Hayley enjoys will be key!
