About this client/child:
We are on the search for an experienced Carer to join Jed’s team. Jed is aged 18 and is an incredibly happy and cheerful young man with the most infectious giggle. Jed enjoys hydrotherapy, watching TV and having stories read to him. Jed has cerebral palsy and requires adult help for all his needs, including personal care. He is fed via a PEG and uses Eye gaze for his communication. He also has a smart wheelchair.

Overview of role:
As Jed’s Live-in Carer your role will be working alongside his parents and his support workers to assist him with his daily routine and ensure he is comfortable. You will always be working alongside another Carer as Jed requires 2:1 care. We are looking for a carer who can assist with Jed’s before and after school routines with a focus on supporting with his personal care, moving and handling and activities out when needed. Jed goes to school at 9.00 am in the morning, and he comes home after 4.00pm. During the hours you are on shift whilst Jed is at school, you will assist the family with some light cleaning, shopping, preparing, and cooking Jed’s food. There will be the opportunity to pick up additional hours during the school holidays and on occasions when Jed is unable to attend school. The hourly rate offered is £14.00 gross per hour. An automatic fully adapted car is available to use when on duty.
