Support Worker

Location: Bromley, Greater London, BR1
Wage/Salary: £14.00 weekdays | £16.00 weekends | £31,000.00 + Gross per Annum
Driver Essential? Yes, use of car on duty (manual, adapted vehicle)
Essential: Experience supporting a young person with additional needs. Nonsmoker/vaper.
Desirable: Gastro-jejunal feeding tube experience
Days & Hours: 43 hours contracted per week. Shifts: 7.00am – 4.45pm or 6.00pm, Waking Nights: 7.00pm – 7.30am (will include weekday and weekend work on a rota basis)

About this client:
Ruby aged 19 enjoys listening to and making music, pamper sessions, exploring the countryside, hydrotherapy, or spending time with her peers. She lives at home in Bromley with her Mum, Dad, and younger sister and attends a local College 4 days per week. As a result of a trauma at birth, Ruby has Cerebral Palsy affecting all four limbs, Epilepsy, a Learning Disability, communication difficulties, and receives all her nutrition, liquid, and medication via a Gastro-Jejunal tube. Ruby uses sounds and facial expressions to support her communication and Eye Gaze technology. Ruby has a dedicated care team in place providing day and waking night support.

Overview of role:
The role is to support Ruby’s wellbeing, development, happiness, and engagement in daily life, to provide companionship, promote independence, and enable Ruby to pursue social outings and events, explore new hobbies, participate in activities, education, and access the community. Ruby’s Support Worker will provide support with all aspects of her care plan, EHCP, and happiness plan. The role will include supporting with personal care and implementing Ruby’s rehabilitation therapy as instructed by her therapy team and support Ruby at home, in college, out in the community, and on holidays (in the UK and abroad). This is a full-time (43 contracted hours per week) permanent position.

A reliable, trustworthy, and dedicated Support Worker willing to make a long-term commitment to Ruby and her care team. An experienced Support Worker keen to learn new skills and to take on an advocacy role with a focus on promoting independence and their client’s happiness. We can only consider applicants who can provide 2 satisfactory references and are willing to obtain a new DBS if not currently registered on the DBS update service (costs covered).
