Start Date: ASAP
Days & Hours: Term-time: Monday, 10.00am to 6.00pm, Tuesday and Thursday, 7.00am to 9.00am and then 3.00pm to 6.00pm. Wednesdays 3.00pm to 6.00pm. College Holidays: 10.00am to 6.00pm
Family/Client Pets: 2 dogs, a rabbit and a chinchilla!

About this client/child: 
Mary is a delightful young lady of 22, who adores animals and especially her pets!  Mary attends a specialist college where she is studying life skills. Mary has cerebral palsy and uses either a K-Walker or wheelchair for longer distances; she has an unsteady gait and is at risk of falling. She has a visual and hearing impairment and wears a hearing aid. Mary likes to be independent but requires practical support including with her personal care needs.

Overview of role:
As Mary’s Support Worker / Personal Assistant, you will enable her to live her life as independently as possible, encourage her life skills and to help her enjoy activities and social events Support Worker / Personal Assistant both at home and in the community. As well as attending to Mary’s personal care needs, your role will include providing practical support with physical tasks, managing Mary’s appointments and diary, college drop offs and pick ups and admin duties. Mary has Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, and you will receive training by her treating therapist to learn how to best implement the therapies, either at home or at the local gym. The annual salary for the hours, part-time term-time and full-time holidays is £22,763.00 gross per annum.

Who this job would suit:
Mary will benefit from a *female support worker / PA who understands what it is like to work on a 1:1 basis with young adults with a physical disability in their own home. A member of Mary’s family has their own medical needs, so you’ll also need to be sensitive and understanding of that. You’ll be a confident driver to take Mary to and from college and a swimmer. Of course, you will also be an animal lover!
