About this client:
Mia (25) is a sociable, active young lady with a cheeky sense of humour. She enjoys music, live musical theatre and concerts, pop videos, shopping, cooking, arts and craft and so much more! Mia has an Athetoid Cerebral palsy, dystonia and scoliosis. She is using a specially adapted wheelchair.  Mia is not verbal but is able to communicate effectively and express her likes and dislikes using sounds. All her medication and feeds are administered via gastrostomy.

Overview of role:
In this role you will be required to assist Mia with all aspects of her daily and night routine including personal care, feeding, administering medication and of course having lots of fun. Mia enjoys yoga and gardening, both of which she practices at home and at a nearby Life Skills Centre. Mia can sometimes experience severe dystonic “storms” resulting in hyper-extension. The episodes are unexpected, unpredictable, and complex to manage. There is a protocol to manage the episodes. You’ll need to have the ability to remain calm and confident, but comprehensive, client-specific training will be provided. Days and hours: Saturday and Sunday 1.00pm to 7.00pm, flexible for the right person. Opportunity to cover sickness and annual leave, potential to cover night shifts in the future. £13.00 - £15.00 gross per hour depending on experience.
