About this client/child:
Sarah (29) and Jake (24) are siblings living in their adapted family home. They are both bright and cheerful characters and very much enjoy the company of others. They love socialising in restaurants and cafes, participating in arts and crafts, watching films, football, music events, visiting the theatre and outside activities, especially accessible walks. They also enjoy going on holiday to UK destinations (adapted lodges etc). Both Sarah and Jake have cerebral palsy and complex physical disabilities and are fully dependent on others for all aspects of daily living. They are non-verbal but can communicate their needs and requirements through facial expressions. They both have gastrostomy tubes for feeding, are wheelchair users and have ongoing daily physio programmes and weekly hydrotherapy. Sarah and Jake have epilepsy, this is well controlled but will still need monitoring.

Overview of role:
We are looking for Support Workers who can assist Sarah and Jake throughout the day as part of a team of 4. This includes their personal care needs; helping to get them up, showered, toileted, medication administered, mealtimes and daily physio exercises. Then there will be some fun activities – both Sarah and Jake are out every day if possible. There are always 4 Support Workers on day shifts as they require 2:1 care. During the first 3 months the rates will be £13.00 weekdays and £13.50 weekends, this will be reviewed halfway through a six-month probation/training period). Post training/probation rates are £13.50 weekdays and £14.00 gross per hour on weekends.

Who this job would suit:
This family is looking for honest, reliable straightforward people who will commit to making the quality of life for their two children the best it can be. Candidates with common sense who can use their initiative; be patient and allow these two young people the time and space to express their own thoughts, wishes and personality is important. Non-smoker/vaper - the family home is a strictly non-smoking environment. Experience working with young people with additional and complex needs is desirable but most important is your attitude, so this suits either experienced support workers or people wanting to get into support work.

What’s great about this job:
You will be joining a very positive team (currently a team of 11) with comprehensive training and ongoing support will be offered.  Sarah and Jake are both very inspiring and will make this job very satisfying.
